Irwin Creek Tributary Basin Capacity Study

Irwin Creek Tributary to Remount Road basin is situated in the City of Charlotte South End district. Notably, this area has experienced a surge in development due to the proximity of the light rail system. As a consequence of the substantial increase in Transit Oriented Development zoning, the existing infrastructure, dating back to the 1940s-1960s, is facing heightened strain.

The main objective of this project was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current sewer system and identify areas where upsizing is imperative to accommodate the projected growth in the region. KEA (Formally TKG) played a supporting role to STV in evaluating potential alternative routes for the sewer system, taking into consideration the requirements for future development while also balancing factors like constructability and maintenance operations.
