Charlotte Water – Design and Construction Standards Update

As part of a consulting team with Brown & Caldwell, Stantec, KEA (formally TKG) supported Charlotte Water’s initiative to upgrade and overhaul its design manual, details, and specifications. This effort was driven by the need to align the utility’s standards with new products, evolving industry practices, updated regulations, and long-term sustainability goals.

 

The project involved a comprehensive review and modernization of Charlotte Water’s technical documents, ensuring they provide clear, consistent guidance for engineers, contractors, and developers. Updates reflected the introduction of modern materials and technologies, integration of current construction practices, and compliance with regulatory changes that directly impact water infrastructure design and delivery.

 

The updated manuals and specifications now serve as a critical resource for both Charlotte Water and its project partners, helping the utility manage growth across the region with consistent, high-quality, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
